TRAS UN DURO COMBATE CONNOR CONSIGUIÓ DERROTAR Y DECAPITAR A FASIL.

FASIL ES UNO DE LOS PRIMEROS PERSONAJES INTRODUCIDOS EN EL GUIÓN ORIGINAL DE GREGORY WIDEN, HACIENDO ACTO DE PRESENCIA EN LA PRIMERA PÁGINA.
EL PRIMER GUIÓN DE HIGHLANDER, ESCRITO POR GREGORY WIDEN COMO TRABAJO PARA CLASE EN LA UCLA, COMIENZA CON CONNOR Y FASIL ENCONTRÁNDOSE EN UN CALLEJÓN OSCURO.

POCA INFORMACIÓN SE APORTA SOBRE EL PERSONAJE APARTE DE QUE FASIL LLAMA AL HIGHLANDER POR SU VERDADERO NOMBRE, LO CUAL DARÍA A ENTENDER QUE AMBOS SE CONOCÍAN DE ANTES.
NO HAY REFERENCIAS ESPECÍFICAS AL TIPO DE ARMA DE FASIL. LA POLICÍA ENCONTRÓ UN ARMA CON SUS HUELLAS PERO, AL TRATARSE DE UNA CLAYMORE ESCOCESA, SE DA A ENTENDER QUE LA ESPADA ERA LA DE CONNOR. ES DECIR, QUE EL HIGHLANDER HABRÍA BORRADO SUS HUELLAS Y PUESTO LAS DE FASIL PARA ENCUBRIR EL CRIMEN.
DURANTE EL INTERROGATORIO EL DETECTIVE MORAN AFIRMA QUE FASIL TENÍA UN PASAPORTE SIRIO. SIN EMBARGO, ESTO NO CONFIRMARÍA EL VERDADERO ORIGEN DE FASIL PUES SE ESTABLECE QUE LOS INMORTALES HAN VIVIDO EN MUCHOS PAÍSES Y ASUMIENDO DISTINTAS IDENTIDADES.

CUANDO BELLWOOD Y FERGUSON ESCRIBIERON SU GUIÓN, BASÁNDOSE EN EL ORIGINAL DE WIDEN, MANTUVIERON AL PERSONAJE DE IMAN FASIL SIGUIENDO EL MISMO ESQUEMA: UN INMORTAL QUE SE ENFRENTA A CONNOR EN LA PRIMERA ESCENA Y CUYO CADAVER ES ENCONTRADO POR LA POLICÍA, DANDO COMIENZO A LA INVESTIGACIÓN POLICIAL QUE SE DESARROLLA A LO LARGO DE LA PELÍCULA
· Versiones posteriores del guión y en la película se mantiene el lugar del combate pero varía el evento deportivo. En vez de un partido de Hockey los dos inmortales presenciaban un combate de lucha libre
FASIL ACECHA A CONNOR EN UN GARAJE CUANDO ÉSTE SALE DE UN PARTIDO DE HOCKEY EN EL MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. AMBOS SE RECONOCEN MUTUAMENTE POR SUS NOMBRES.
· Al igual que en el guión de Widen vemos a Fasil llamar por su verdadero nombre a Connor, el cual también le reconoce, dando a entender que ambos se conocen o han oído hablar el uno del otro.
· Cuando Fasil aparece en el garaje vemos a Connor responderle diciendo "Fasil, wait!". No está claro por qué Connor le pidió que se detuviera cuando los dos estaban armados y preparados para luchar. Sin embargo, en el guión original de Bellwood y Ferguson que escribieron en 1983 vemos varios momentos en los que Connor intenta evitar enfrentarse con antiguos amigos. A lo largo de la historia vemos cómo se ve obligado a matar a Sing, con el cual había mantenido una buena relación antes de la Reunión, y conversa con Kastagir acerca de la posibilidad de que algún día se vean obligados a enfrentarse.
SING (afirmando que no dudará en matar a Connor a pesar de no tener nada personal contra él)

Por tanto, es posible que Fasil y Connor hubiesen tenido una buena relación en el pasado y que la intención del Highlander habría sido posponer el combate para otra ocasión. Sin embargo, a diferencia de Sing, Fasil optó por evitar una conversación inútil y atacó por sorpresa a Connor sin dejarle terminar.
EL GUIÓN ESPECIFICA QUE EL ARMA ES UNA ESPADA GRANDE, CON JOYAS ENGARZADAS, QUE POSTERIORMENTE ES IDENTIFICADA COMO UNA ESPADA "TOLEDO-SALAMACA", VALORADA EN 2 MILLONES Y MEDIO DE DÓLARES.
· Históricamente no existe este tipo de espada.
· El hecho de que Fasil use una espada de origen español a pesar de su supuesto origen sirio parece seguir el concepto del inmortal que ha tomado elementos de distintas culturas a lo largo de los siglos. Otros ejemplos serían Ramirez, egipcio con acento escocés que trabajaba para la Corona Española, o Connor Macleod, un guerrero de origen escocés con acento francés ("Lots of different places")
EL INTERROGATORIO ES SIMILAR AL DE LA VERSIÓN DE WIDEN PERO CON UNA LIGERA DIFERENCIA, FASIL ES SUPUESTAMENTE SIRIO PERO VIAJABA CON UN PASAPORTE ALEMÁN, REFORZANDO LA IDEA DEL INMORTAL DE ORIGEN DESCONOCIDO QUE HA VIVIDO EN DISTINTOS PAÍSES.

CUANDO CONNOR Y KASTAGIR SE REENCUENTRAN EN CENTRAL PARK EL ETÍOPE RECRIMINA AL HIGHLANDER POR HABER DEJADO ATRÁS LA ESPADA DE FASIL.
· En esta versión del guión los inmortales deben recoger el arma del inmortal vencido por norma general. Esta norma sería eliminada en posteriores revisiones del guión.

EN LA NOVELIZACIÓN DE GARRY KILWORTH SE APORTA UN POCO DE INFORMACIÓN EXTRA SOBRE EL TRASFONDO DEL PERSONAJE, AFIRMANDO QUE APRENDIÓ SUS TÉCNICAS DE LUCHA DE LOS SARRACENOS DURANTE LA ÉPOCA DE LAS CRUZADAS.
· En los guiones apenas se describe cómo fue el combate entre Fasil y Connor. Cuando se rodó la escena se coreografió un combate muy acrobático donde Fasil llega a desplazarse por el garaje dando volteretas. En la novelización Kilworth parece intentar explicar sus movimientos relacionándolo con los sarracenos.

ESTAS FICHAS, INSPIRADAS EN LA CONTINUIDAD DE LA SERIE DE TV, ESTABLECE QUE FASIL PERA UN NOBLE ITALIANO QUE MURIÓ TRAS UNA BORRACHERA DE LA QUE SE RECUPERÓ SIN HABERSE DADO CUENTA DE LO QUE LE HABÍA OCURRIDO.
TRAS HABER SIDO DESHEREDADO POR SU PADRE ADOPTIVO, FASIL VIAJÓ POR EL MUNDO, LLEGANDO A CONVERTIRSE AL ISLAM Y LUCHANDO JUNTO CON LOS SARRACENOS DURANTE LAS CRUZADAS, AL IGUAL QUE SE EXPLICÓ EN LA NOVELIZACIÓN DE KILWORTH.
Iman Fasil was born in the winter, in northern Italy. He came from a noble family, but didn't possess, however, a noble mind. When Fasil had his first death, he didn't realize it since he was drunk. Later, his father, tired of how Fasil abused his inheritance and his position, cast him out. Fasil converted to Islam and fought with the Saracens during the Crusades, during which he learned much concerning the art of combat.
Iman Fasil was born in northern Italy in the winter of 1594. He was of noble birth, but not conscience. His petty abuses of his noble heritage set him on a path of self-destruction. Although he never realized it, he had died two years earlier in a drunken stupor. Soon the man, adopted as an infant, was disowned by his father in favor of a more discerning nephew. Disinherited, Fasil roamed the land, encountering other Immortals. The Gathering will deliver to him the prize to rule he desires.

CONNOR PERCIBE A FASIL EN MEDIO DE UN COMBATE DE LUCHA LIBRE EN EL MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. LOS DOS INMORTALES SE ENCUENTRAN EN EL GARAJE Y MANTIENEN UN DUELO DEL QUE SALE VENCEDOR EL HIGHLANDER.
· Según el guión, Connor había percibido la presencia de Fasil entre el público, justificando así por qué se fue de su asiento antes de terminar el combate.
"Concentrating, MacLeod scans the crowd. Like a predator catching a scent, he leaves swiftly."
· En la película vemos a Fasil practicar volteretas por el garaje. Estas habilidades acrobáticas no figuraban en los guiones.
EL COMBATE Y EL QUICKENING LIBERADO PRODUCEN VARIOS DESTROZOS EN EL GARAJE QUE ALERTA A LA POLICÍA. CONNOR INTENTA HUIR EN SU COCHE PERO ES ARRESTADO AL SALIR DEL PARKING.
· Según Bellwood y Ferguson, a medida que van quedando menos inmortales se va repartiendo el Quickening entre los que quedan y la transferencia de energías es cada vez más poderosa.

"It is logically consistent that each transfer is more spectacular. Not only the power of the fallen immortal is released, but that of his dead opponents down through the centuries. It´s like a chain reaction. It gets bigger and bigger as the numbers dwindle."
· Nick Maley, diseñador de los Quickenings, afirmó que su intención fue que cada escena donde hubiese un Quickening se mostraría distintos aspectos de su poder. En esta primera escena vemos cómo interactúa la energía liberada con los coches y la iluminación del parking.

EL CADAVER ES IDENTIFICADO COMO IMAN FASIL Y SE RECOGEN COMO PRUEBAS SU ESPADA, UNA "TOLEDO-SALAMANCA" VALORADA EN VARIOS MILLONES DE DÓLARES, Y FRAGMENTOS DE LA ESPADA DE CONNOR.
· Como ya mencionamos en puntos anteriores, Connor debería haber ocultado el cuerpo de Fasil y reclamado su espada como vencedor, al menos según el guión de 1983. Sin embargo, los destrozos causados provocaron que Connor tuviese que huir con prisa y acabase siendo arrestado.
EN COMISARIA CONNOR ES INTERROGADO COMO SOSPECHOSO DEL ASESINATO DE FASIL Y ESTABLECEN UNA POSIBLE CONEXIÓN CON LA MUERTE DE OSTA VAZILEK.
· Oficialmente Fasil es la "2ª víctima" del asesino en serie que la policía busca durante la película original.
· La miniserie "The American Dream" revela cómo fue la muerte de Osta Vazilek a manos del Kurgan. También se explica que en ese mismo instante Connor se había enfrentado contra otro inmortal, John Hooke, cuyo cadaver no fue encontrado por la policía por haber sido arrojado a tiempo al agua. Si tenemos en cuenta la muerte de Hooke podriamos afirmar que Fasil fue la 3ª víctima de la Reunión de 1985.
EL LEGADO DE FASIL
EN EL PRIMER VIDEOJUEGO DE HIGHLANDER, BASADO EN LA PRIMERA PELÍCULA, FASIL ES EL ENEMIGO CONTRA EL QUE SE TIENE QUE ENFRENTAR CONNOR TRAS EL PRIMER COMBATE CON RAMIREZ.
FASIL NO VUELVE A SER MENCIONADO EN LAS SECUELAS AL HABER MUERTO EN LA PELÍCULA ORIGINAL. SIN EMBARGO, SÍ ES MENCIONADO EN LA SERIE DE TV EN EL EPISODIO "THE WATCHERS", EN EL CUAL SE DESCUBRE QUE UNA ORGANIZACIÓN SECRETA HABRÍA ESTADO MONITORIZANDO A LOS INMORTALES DURANTE SIGLOS. AL CONSULTAR LA FICHA DEL KURGAN SE AFIRMA QUE EN EL PASADO SE HABÍA ENFRENTADO EN UNA OCASIÓN CON IMAN FASIL EN 1640

· El actor que interpretó a Fasil reaparecería en la serie de TV como un mortal que murió enfrentándose a Duncan en el episodio "Band of brothers".
